The Legacy of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas

When it comes to excitement and entertainment, no city in the world can compare to Las Vegas. Also known as the entertainment capital of the world, marriage capital of the world, gambling city of the world, and the city of lights, among others, there’s never a dull day in Las Vegas.

Las Vegas is home to many hotels and resorts. Since 1995, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino has been a staple in the Las Vegas community. However, the famed establishment closed its doors for the final time on 3rd Feb 2020, marking the end of an era. Even still, the legacy of the Hard Rock still lives on and will continue to do so, as it was the home many great memories for tourists and locals alike.

The legacy of the Hard Rock began in London in 1971 as the brain child of Americans Peter Morton and Isaac Tigret. After searching and failing to find a good burger in London, the pair decided to open a café of their own. This gave rise to the Hard Rock Café, which was located at the old Rolls Royce dealership.

As the name suggests, the café had a close link to rock and roll. The logo was designed by Alan Aldridge, renowned for his work on the album covers of the Beatles and other great artists. To mark his spot at the café, Eric Clapton requested Isaac to allow him to hang his guitar above his favorite spot.

This sparked a movement and part of the brand as other artists followed suit. Over the years, the collection of memorabilia in the Hard Rock hotels and casinos grew to over 70,000 pieces. As the years passed, new branches were opened in different regions with the first Hard Rock Café in the U.S. opening in 1990 on Harmon Avenue and Paradise Road.

To help foster the rock culture, Aerosmith help with opening it. However, it was not until 1995 that the famed Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas was opened. From there, it did not take long for Hard Rock to become the favorite spot for concerts, parties and various events, as well as celebrities. Some of the famous names to stay at the Hard Rock include Pamela Anderson and Nicolas Cage.

The Hard Rock opened their Rehab Beach Club in 2004 and introduced the idea of daytime partying, which was an instant hit.
