Low-cost Las Vegas Attractions for the Family

There is more to do in Las Vegas than gambling and taking in the shows. Families can enjoy free outdoor activities and the natural beauty of the desert.

Affordable Family Fun with a Las Vegas Vacation

There’s a lot more to Las Vegas than just gambling and shows. Not everyone knows that Vegas is an exciting vacation spot for the whole family. Just walking along The Strip, tourists will encounter breathtaking visual displays and free music. Theme restaurants and a world-famous wax museum are also part of the fun. In addition, Vegas is home to inspiring desert sunsets and natural rock formations.

See the Sights

You don’t even have to go inside the casinos to enjoy their showy splendor. Watch a man-made volcano erupt in front of the Mirage Hotel and Casino each evening! It spews real fire and smoke and sounds like the real thing. In the summer, some of the free musical performances that have taken place in downtown Las Vegas included famous bands like Cheap Trick and 3 Doors Down. It’s not necessary to spend big bucks to stay at expensive hotels on The Strip, either. Las Vegas weekly rentals are available, with kitchenettes and other amenities, for less than the name-brand hotels.

A Variety of Entertainment

Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum is one of the local entertainment venues worth taking in. Located at the Venetian on the Las Vegas Strip, it features lifelike wax statues of celebrities past and present. You can get up close and personal, taking pictures with your favorites. The Hard Rock Cafe is a draw in any city, but in Vegas it resembles a real Rock & Roll Museum, with clothing and musical instruments from famous musical entertainers on display. Half the fun of eating there is the funky decor.

Natural Beauty

Enjoy the beauty of the Arizona desert at Red Rock Canyon. This natural conservation park offers hiking trails with great views of colorful rock landscapes and natural geological formations. View desert wildlife and foliage, as well as a natural waterfall. One interesting note is that dinosaur tracks have been found in the sandstone in three different spots at the park! There are many nature tours available in the area, by foot and with transportation. See the canyons and desert vistas by bicycle, scooter, Jeep or even kayak. At the grounds of the Flamingo Hotel, a waterfall with an island in the center is a gathering place for flamingos. The miniature wildlife habitat also includes other exotic birds, turtles and koi fish.
