Inexpensive Things to Do with Kids in Las Vegas

Though Las Vegas deserves its reputation as an adult playground, there are plenty of fun things to do for families with small children that don’t cost much money. These include the gardens at the Bellagio, the children’s museum and nearby Red Rock Canyon.

Fun and Inexpensive Las Vegas Activities with Kids

Though Las Vegas has veered away from the family-friendly town it marketed in the 90s and is seen as a never ending party for adults, there are still many ways for families to have fun together. While most of the major casinos have great rides and attractions, budget-minded guests at Las Vegas weekly rentals will quickly find their funds depleted on the Strip. However, there are a number of less obvious ways to entertain the family without breaking the bank.

Bellagio Gardens

The Conservatory and Botanical Garden at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino changes with each season but always features dazzling displays of flowers arranged to form animals, houses or anything else one could imagine. Children are fascinated by the intricate work. Start the trip at the Monte Carlo, and the monorail tram to the Bellagio is a treat for small children all by itself, making for a completely free outing.

Discovery Children’s Museum

Though far from free at about a $15 per person admission fee, the Discovery Children’s Museum offers a full day’s worth of fun and learning, ensuring a lot of bang for the buck. With rooms devoted to science, pretend, toddlers, water, art and much more, there’s plenty to please any child. Located right near the Las Vegas North Premium Outlets, the day of learning can easily transition to an evening of shopping.

Red Rock Canyon

For those craving a taste of the outdoors, drive west on Charleston Blvd. for just over a half hour from the strip to reach Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. A mere $7 admission per car grants you access to a score of trails as well as the 13-mile scenic drive for those who don’t wish to hike but still want to take in the stark, desert beauty.
